Nexus, from Italy, L’Aquila, formed in 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Vlad Voicu and bassist/backup vocalist Tony Di Marzio and combining alternative metal, gothic rock and electronics
Nine tracks of melodic alternative rock metal with goth influences. The weight is metal as the songs are are heavy but with melodic sound. The vocal is enjoyable and the structures of the music
is quite good, especially the guitar works.
The opening "Solitude", is a good piece that introduce the atmosphere of the complete album, "Cancro", which shows simple sounds, in "Funeral Pyre" the band propose a more melodic attitude,
extremely respectable is the piano. The rest of the album swings between heavy music in which guitar sounds rules and moments more moderated.
I can say “Crimson Wine”, is one of the best piece of the whole album. Keyboards and the electronic sounds in the tracks enrich the dark intentions.
Other good songs are “Stillborn” and “Close Your Eyes”.
“Scrying Mirror", in which the valuable synthetic sounds and, "To silence your demons" closes to industrial metal style.
The band influences are the classics, first of all Depeche Mode and Him, with hints to Marylin Manson.
The album itself is appreciable but they must have a more personal sound, in my opinion, the fact remains that the Nexus are good proposals in the genre goth rock.
