As a good glamster I am, I can not but be happy to see bands like Lipz, still fond of make up, hair with cottons, stage clothes and all the corolla that surrounds a glam band.
As often happens, behind so much colorful scene, there is a musical talent not indifferent, as glam has been very mistreated in Italy.
Lipz, released brand new album "Scaryman”, containing nine tracks, plus a bonus one, every song is quiete strong but the album itself hasn’t any particular point, no much power enough in this “Scaryman” but at the end, the album is catchy and the mood is good.
The Lipz history begins back in 2011, when Klintberg bros Alexander (Vocals, Guitar) and Koffe (Drums) decided to build up a new band together with their best friend Conny Svärd (Guitar). The band immediately started the research for a suitable frontman, but after some unsuccessful tries Alexander decided to pick up the mic himself, becoming immediately the perfect fit for the group. With this line-up, Lipz entered the studio to begin the recordings of their own material. Their first single "Ghost Town" was released in September 2012, followed three years after by their official EP called "Psycho". An endless research for a stable bass-player slowed down the process of making a full studio album, which took three years to be finally completed (with Alexander handling the bass duties himself).
The dog barking and whimpers in the intro can make you think of a dark goth album but no, because already on the second track, the band starts to let us feel its real soul, then the band gives us a particularly well structured album.
Scaryman is a strong and entertaining album well worth checking out. I really like it and by the way, the answer is quite, in my opinion, the highlights of this work are “Ghost Town”, “Star”, “Get Up On The Stage” and the beautiful bonus track “Everytime I Close My Eyes” with the real good voice of the frontman Alex K., intense acoustic ballad.
“Scaryman” it’s a surprise that at first listening has left me almost indefatigable to listen to it with attention, I’d enjoy excellent sounds, with really good guitars and great sounds.
Between echoes to the Tigertailz, passing through the Hanoi Rocks and Motley Crue, the Swedish trio Lipz is to count into the New Wave Of Swedish Sleaze.
