From Finland, Melodic Heavy Metal band Stargazery born late in the year 2005, will release the studio Vinyl edition of the album "Eye On The Sky" on 14th June 2019 with Pure Steel Records.
Rockers And Other Animals is pleased to host among its pages Pete Ahonen, guitarist of the band, who responded to this interview by revealing the plans immensely Stargazery.
Hi! Welcome to Rockers And Other Animals’s pages. Let's start asking you what was the decision to revive "Eye On The Sky" as limited Vinyl edition?
Vinyl version has always been one of the dreams as a musician. Thankfully the vinyl has been growing within the few years and now we are able to release it too :) On vinyl the awesome artwork will come to “life” and now we were able to change the song order as it was planned in 2011 + add a bonustrack.
The band is formed by musicians who parallel to Stargazery have different musical projects. How much do these parallel musical activities influence the creation of Stargazery's songs?
I think other bands don't influence that much in the writing process. In way they all play different types of heavy metal.
Can we say that Stargazery is basically a super group?
Hmm, may if you use that word very loosely
Which kind of alchemy there’s between you as band?
Obviously it is very important that the there is some kind of brotherhood within the band. We are very good friends indeed.
Musically you are compared to Rainbow or Whitesnake, how do you live this approach to bands that are basically the history of rock and metal?
Of course we are flattered! Those bands are a huge influence to many musicians, we included.
What is the most challenging part of writing the music?
I think there are no “specific” part that is challenging. Sometimes you write a song within minutes and sometimes it takes years to finish.
In a balance between arrangement, lyrics and melody, which is most important to you?
I think that if you have a great melody & song itself, “bad” lyrics won't “destroy” the whole song, but on the other hand great lyrics won't lift up the bad melody & song.
From your debut album "Eye On The Sky" until now, what has changed in your history as a band?
Almost a whole new line-up , only Jari and I are left from the original line-up. Besides us the new member are Ilkka Leskelä / Drums, Pasi Hiltula / Keyboards and the newest member Marko Pukkila / Bass. Lot's of new energy and everyone has a hunger to get things done!
What are your programs for the future?
Currently we are putting finishing touches to our new single Sinners In Shadows and hopefully it will be out in this month! Also continue recording our 3rd album Constellation, which will out in the end of the year.
After time, are you totally satisfied with your choices about sound and the writing of your old albums? If you could, would you change anything?
All in all I am very pleased, but I think you always find something that you would change or do differently :) But if you want to be an artist / band that releases music, you have to stop somewhere when you're recording, “ok, now it is finished”.
Will a tour follow after the release of this album?
Maybe some random gigs, but no tour. Our focus is finishing the new album.
How do you think the world of hard rock and metal music has changed in the internet era? Didn't the pleasure of searching for and listening to an album go unnoticed?
Well, nowadays you can get everything with a just few clicks :) The world has changed and we just have to adapt :D But I do remember how cool it was to search through every music mag for a new bands and trade cassettes etc with friends, nostalgic indeed.
Thank you for your time. We hope to see you play in Italy one day!!
To conclude the interview, say something important not yet mentioned.
Thank you Valeria for these cool questions and interview! And yes, we hope we could play in Italy!
Thanks for our Italian fans for their support and we hope you will purchase the Eye On The Sky vinyl and crank it up \m/
